I'll give you fair warning, this might turn into a long post. But here it goes...
Tim has been sick for a couple of days and finally went to the doctor yesterday. Lest you think that this post is about some crazy diagnosis, it's just a form of tonsillitis. The medicine has worked and he's feeling a lot better today. Thank you for your concern ;) But yesterday morning he decided that he wanted a blessing. So he called his dad to come give him one once he got home from work at night. So we told Lacey that Nonnie and Grandpa Chuck were coming over. Fast forward a couple hours and Lacey and I were upstairs doing random stuff. I said to her,
"Who's coming over tonight?"
"Nonnie an Granpa Chuck!" She said excitedly. (Side note, I'm typing how she speaks, so don't laugh at my spelling)
"You're right! Nonnie and Grandpa Chuck are coming over. Grandpa Chuck is coming to give Daddy a blessing because Daddy's sick. Grandpa Chuck can give Daddy a blessing because he has the priesthood. Did you know that?
"Yep!"
"What do you know about the priesthood?"
"Da sac-a-ment. I take the sac-a-ment. Bed (Bread) and wa-der."
"That's right the young men that bless and pass the sacrament hold the priesthood!"
Now, the reason that I'm posting this is because it's the first time that I knew that she ever made the connection between the sacrament and the priesthood. You probably should know that it's a rule in our family that we put all toys and crayons away during the sacrament on Sunday. During the rest of Sacrament meeting, she's welcome to color and eat her fruit snacks, etc. but during the sacrament it all gets put away. It's been like that since she was 18 months old. So every Sunday because she can't play during the sacrament she sits on my lap and I narrate what is going on.
Example: "See Abraham (a young man in our ward), he's going to bless the bread, so it's prayer time. Fold your arms." or "See Alex, (another young man, who she LOVES), he's passing the sacrament. Alex holds the priesthood so he can pass the sacrament."
I guess a years worth of narrating that you have to hold the priesthood to bless and pass the sacrament has sunk in! I don't know about you, but I'm excited!!! She listens and understands! I've always known that it's important to teach your children from birth about the Savior and the gospel and I'm finally seeing that all the teaching is working!!! Woo Hoo!
Also, here are some pictures of my sweet girls...
